THE HEAT REPORT
The HEAT Report is a weekly newsletter focusing on how members of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT) promote American energy security, and an all-of-the-above energy economy.
The Latest:
In the last week, President Biden has spent more time trying to redefine what a recession is rather than working to lay out a plan to get our nation out of a recession.
We’ve seen the indicators for months now. Families are paying more for goods everywhere they go. You would think President Biden would be spending all of his time trying to figure out a plan to fix this crisis – but in fact, we’re seeing the opposite. We’re seeing denial.
President Biden even tried to get Congressional Democrats to brag that gas prices are low. Everybody knows how high gas prices are and that they’ve nearly doubled since President Biden took office and started an assault on American energy.
The truth is — President Biden can’t redefine his way out of a recession. He must reverse his failed policies that are hurting American families who are struggling to afford to fill up their gas tanks and feed their families.
Republicans have a plan for how to get inflation under control, lower gas prices, and secure American energy independence. It’s past time that President Biden and Speaker Pelosi get serious about solving their multiple self-created crises and work with Republicans to reduce the pain being inflicted upon hardworking families.
This Week’s HEAT Member Highlights:

Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) highlightedan amendment he cosponsored to prohibit the United States from sending oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve to China. Rep. Duncan also co-authored an op-ed with Representative Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) for The Hill on how Republicans support effective and affordable policies to address emissions while keeping energy reliable, affordable, and secure, and how nuclear innovation is a key part of this solution.
HEAT Co-Chair Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) joined House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), and 90 of their Republican colleagues in sending a letter to President Biden urging him to abandon plans to impose a ban on oil exports.
At a Natural Resources Committee markup, Representative Pete Stauber (R-Minn.) offered an amendment to ensure Americans have reliable access to baseload power through an all-of-the-above energy mix as many Americans are faced with rolling blackouts this summer due to Green New Deal policies.
Representative Garret Graves (R-La.) introduced amendments that would stop the "Environmental Justice For All" Act from taking effect if it will increase energy prices for those that can least afford to pay those costs. The Biden Administration’s policies are causing the problems Americans are facing today.
Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.) authored an op-ed for The Floridian criticizing the America-last energy policies of the Biden Administration.
