Let's get America back on track

When polled recently, 79 percent of Americans said they believed our country is headed in the wrong direction. They’re right.

Under Democrats’ one-party rule, the past two years have been punctuated by a seemingly endless stream of wasteful, big-government spending that’s sent our economy straight into a recession.

Workers have seen their take-home pay shrink amidst the combination of rising prices and falling wages. Inflation will cost American families over $8,000 this year alone. As a result, two-thirds of Americans now report having to dip into their savings just to keep up with rising costs.

Instead of embracing domestic energy, the President of the United States has groveled before the world’s dictators – begging them to increase oil production while sidelining American producers. Due to higher costs, one in six U.S. families is now behind on their utility bills.

Violent crime is surging in major cities nationwide, with homicide rates up 50% compared to 2019. Across the country, progressive district attorneys are outright refusing to prosecute criminals, and police departments are struggling to hire enough officers to keep our streets safe amidst radical calls to defund the police.

Drug overdoses hit an all-time high last year, tragically claiming the lives of more than 100,000 Americans. Yet this administration’s open-border policies have encouraged criminal cartels to smuggle more deadly drugs into our communities.

This year alone, border patrol agents seized enough fentanyl to kill every American man, woman, and child several times over.

Our students lost two decades’ worth of progress in math and reading due to prolonged school shutdowns championed by teachers’ unions and their allies in Washington. And when our nation’s parents demanded a say in their children’s education, the Attorney General labeled them domestic terrorists.

Folks, something’s got to give. Our government should work for the people, not against them. Yet, at nearly every turn, the policies that Democrats have imposed on the American people have only made life harder.

This is not the legacy we should be leaving for our children and grandchildren. Americans deserve an economy that’s strong, a nation that’s safe, a future that’s built on freedom, and a government that’s accountable. My colleagues and I want to hit the ground running to immediately work on delivering practical solutions to these crises. We developed the Commitment to America, a plan that offers a new direction for getting our nation back on track.

We will put an end to the reckless spending that is driving inflation higher and repeal the 87,000 IRS agents hired to go after hardworking taxpayers.

We will bring energy costs down by maximizing the production of reliable, cleaner American-made energy to become energy independent again and reduce our reliance on foreign oil.

We will support the hiring of 200,000 new police officers through incentives like recruitment bonuses, as well as crack down on activist prosecutors and increase penalties for smuggling fentanyl.

We will combat illegal immigration by putting an end to policies like catch-and-release and ensure our border patrol has the resources and funding they need to secure the border and protect Americans.

We will advance the Parents’ Bill of Rights and expand parental choice to give American families a voice and make it possible for every student to succeed.

We will preserve the freedoms our nation was built upon and conduct rigorous oversight, forcing the White House to finally answer for their failures both at home and abroad.

While Democrats refuse to address the series of self-inflicted crises we now face, Republicans know that America is worth fighting for. We can get America back on track.
