Rep. Allen votes to overturn Biden's ‘Waters of the United States’ rule

Today, U.S. Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) voted to pass H.J. Res. 27, legislation he co-introduced that would nullify a Biden administration rule which significantly expands the federal government’s authority to regulate what is considered a “navigable water” by redefining the term “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) under the Clean Water Act of 1972.

The Biden Administration’s WOTUS rule would have enormous negative impacts on small businesses, manufacturers, farmers, home and infrastructure builders, local communities, water districts, and property owners.

Upon passage of the resolution, Congressman Allen made the following statement:

“President Biden’s disastrous WOTUS rule will lead to further regulatory burdens on our farmers, and it gives unelected bureaucrats more power to dictate how landowners manage their own property. Under this new guidance, the EPA would have broad authority to determine what is considered a ‘navigable water,’ which could potentially include anything from a pond to a puddle.

“I opposed a similar measure during the Obama administration, and I was proud to help lead this effort to push back against such a blatant example of government overreach. It’s time for this administration to start listening to the American people instead of trying to shoehorn its radical climate agenda into every aspect of their lives.”

Congressman Allen also delivered remarks in support of this legislation shortly after its final passage.
