White House responds to impeachment inquiry comments

Congressman Rick Allen (R-GA, 12th District) and House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman, Congressman James Comer (R-KY, 1st District) addressed the media Monday, to give an update on House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

This meeting was held at the Snelling center on Washington Road. Congressman Allen and Chairman Comer spoke about where they were in the investigation.

When asked about the impeachment inquiry:

“My job was never to impeach; my job was to follow the money and investigate. I’m chairman of the oversight committee. We don’t impeach that’s the judicial committee. But what we’ve found over the last 10 months is very concerning. We found out that the Biden family has taken 10 of millions of dollars from our enemies over the world. So, we have one simple question. What exactly did the Biden family do to receive the 10s of millions of dollars from our enemies around the world? I think the polling shows a majority of Americans wanting to know that. That is what this investigation is about. Is Joe Biden compromised because of the millions of dollars his family received? So, we passed an impeachment inquiry because this administration continues to obstruct our investigation,” Comer said.

Chairman Comer says that they have 170 suspicious activity reports on the President's son and brother.

FOX54 reached out to the White House for comment.  White House spokesperson Sharon Yang directed us to a previous statement made by President Biden on the matter.  It can be found here.

Yang also shared the following:

“Despite combing through 100,000 pages of documents and financial records and interviewing witnesses for over 40 hours, House Republicans have turned up no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden – because there is none – yet continue to waste time on this baseless political stunt at the expense of working on the issues that actually matter to the Georgian families like lowering costs, growing the economy, and strengthening our health care. They may choose to double down on this fact-free smear campaign, but the President is going to stay focused on doing the work of the American people and making their lives better.”
