AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Some Augusta students got a visit from a congressman Tuesday. Rep. Rick Allen, R-Augusta, visited the A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School in observation of National School Choice Week. The school at 1324 Laney Walker Blvd. draws students from grades six through twelve from all parts of Richmond County who want to pursue its special curriculum. Allen says National School Choice Week is about helping kids focus on their passions and finding schools that help them achieve it. While he was there, Allen – joined by engineers from John Deere – saw a presentation from students about rockets. “Once we can figure out what someone’s passion is, then we just get out of their way and we will see an amazing thing take place in our workforce,” said Allen. Outside, he watched the students launch model rockets. He also made a range of remarks on subjects including artificial intelligence, Israel, the federal budget deficit, indentured servitude, asylum, drug trafficking and sex trafficking. |
