Following the tragic death of Laken Hope Riley— beloved daughter, student, and Georgian—at the hands of an illegal alien, Congressman Allen recently joined his Republican colleagues from Georgia in sending a letter to President Biden demanding that he use his presidential authority to secure our border and ensure an incident such as this cannot occur in the United States again.
Congressman Allen also joined the Republican members of the Georgia delegation and other state and local leaders in sending a letter to the leaders of Athens-Clarke County demanding that they overturn the sanctuary policies that have attracted illegal aliens to that community.
After sending the letter to President Biden, Congressman Allen issued the following statement:
"President Biden’s complete disregard for the law and blatant refusal to secure the border undoubtedly led to the tragic death of Laken Riley. The administration must recognize its failures and immediately reverse course. This tragedy was avoidable, and we need a Commander-in-Chief who has the fortitude and backbone to take action. We as the Georgia delegation are praying for Laken’s family and loved ones and demand President Biden use his presidential authority to secure our border and ensure an incident such as this cannot occur in the United States again."
In the letter to President Biden, the Members write:
"Your inaction to resolve the unprecedented humanitarian and national security crises at the U.S. Southern border has directly led to [Laken Riley's] tragic death. Your disastrous border policies have turned every community into a border community and destroyed countless American families like Laken’s...
"You should not wait until your State of the Union address on March 7, 2024, to announce changes to immigration policy. The proliferation of deadly fentanyl, the increased threat of human trafficking by drug cartels, and the impacts illegal immigration has had on our nation’s cities – all must be immediately addressed. You should immediately revoke your harmful executive orders, issue new executive orders that regain full operational control of the U.S. southern border, enforce existing Title 8 authorities, and use the $500+ million in FY20 and FY21 unobligated funds congressionally authorized for a border wall that your administration leaves languishing in accounts..."

In the letter to leaders of Athens-Clarke County, the Georgia Representatives write:
"Notwithstanding President Biden's refusal to deport criminal illegal aliens, secure the southern border, finish the wall, and reinstate the 'Remain in Mexico' policy, various U.S. states, counties, and cities are aiding and abetting the invasion of our country by declaring themselves 'sanctuary' jurisdictions. While Athens-Clarke County has not explicitly designated itself a sanctuary county by ordinance, it is a sanctuary county by word and deed..."
"We write to request that you immediately and publicly reverse course and do what is right to ensure the safety and security of those who entrusted you to lead."
