RICHMOND COUNTY, All on Georgia,
January 20, 2017
As he begins his second term in Congress, Rep. Rick Allen has been notified of his two committee assignments. The Republican from Augusta will serve on the House Education & Workforce Committee and the House Agriculture Committee. In making this announcement, Rep. Allen released the following statement: “I am grateful and excited to continue my membership on the Agriculture Committee and Education and Workforce Committee. As a Georgian and the son of two educators, these two committees are near and dear to my heart. Agriculture is our state’s number one industry, and as a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I have a front row seat to follow and influence our country’s agriculture policies. I am proud to represent the diverse agricultural priorities of the 12th Congressional District and the entire state of Georgia. I also look forward to working with my colleagues and folks back home as we begin considering the next Farm Bill. Last year on the House Education and Workforce Committee, I had the opportunity to help pass the largest education reform bill in decades, returning control back to the local level with the Every Student Succeeds Act. I look forward to working with the committee on its implementation and further empowering our students and educators.” The 12th Congressional district includes: Appling, Jeff Davis, Toombs, Montgomery, Laurens, Tattnall, Evans, Coffee, Bulloch, Screven, Candler, Effingham, Wheeler, Treutlen, Emanuel, Richmond, Jenkins, Burke, and part of Columbia counties. |
