Lock and Dam Language One Step Closer to President's Desk

Today, the House of Representatives passed S. 4367, the Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2024S. 4367 is the final version of the 2024 WRDA, which includes language calling for a full repair of the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam and requires the pool level to be maintained at 114.5 feet (Section 1315). After voting in support of the legislation, Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) issued the following statement:

"The residents of Georgia's 12th District and the CSRA deserve today's victory. For years and years, I, along with our entire community, have fought vigorously for solutions to keep the pool level at 114.5 feet and maintain the Lock and Dam. I was proud to draft this language with our local stakeholders and push it through the legislative process. We are one step closer to the finish line and I have no doubt that our district shares my excitement. Today's bipartisan show of support is an encouraging sign that this will soon be the law of the land."
