Allen Votes to Give Seniors More Control Over Their Healthcare Decisions
Washington,
November 2, 2017
The House of Representatives passed H.R. 849, the Protecting Seniors Access to Medicare Act today. This legislation will repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) which was created by Obamacare. This is board of fifteen unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats with unilateral authority to slash Medicare spending as they see fit. Congressman Rick W. Allen (R-GA-12) cosponsored the legislation, and spoke in support of the bill on the House Floor:
“When the Democrats passed Obamacare, they created the Independent Payment Advisory Board – providing them with unprecedented power to alter Medicare policy...Ultimately having the chance to reduce seniors’ access to health care and put the government at the center of our healthcare system – with zero accountability or transparency. “My constituents deserve better – and Americans across this nation deserve better. A vote for this legislation is a vote to give seniors more control over their healthcare decisions. I urge my colleagues to support Dr. Roe’s bill – and I yield back.” ### |
