One Step Closer to Delivering the America First Agenda

This week, House Republicans passed H. Con. Res. 14, the Republican Budget Framework, with my support. This resolution does not enact policy changes or spending cuts, it simply sets targets and instructs committees to draft reconciliation legislation with better investments and more savings in mind.

77 million Americans voted for a change in Washington, D.C. Congress has an important role to play in this process, and this budget resolution is an important first step to delivering our America First agenda.

Attending the Screven County Farm Bureau Eggs and Issues Breakfast

I attended the Screven County Farm Bureau Eggs and Issues Breakfast on Saturday where I gave an update on what's going on in Washington, Hurricane Helene disaster assistance, and the Farm Bill reauthorization. I also joined Speaker Jon Burns and State Senator Max Burns in answering some questions from those in attendance. Thanks for having me!

Repealing Biden's Natural Gas Tax

The days of weakness on the world stage and dependence on foreign adversaries for our energy needs are OVER. The House also passed H. J. Res. 35 with my support, legislation to overturn the Biden Administration's rule establishing a natural gas tax.

Clean natural gas is a major reason why the U.S. has become a world leader in reducing carbon emissions. In partnership with President Trump, House Republicans are reinstating commonsense in Washington. To lower costs for American families, we must unleash our energy capabilities and utilize the reliable natural gas right under our feet – not impose outlandish taxes on domestic producers.

Introducing Legislation to Accelerate Skills-Based Hiring

Learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Yet, employers oftentimes overlook qualified and experienced job seekers due to a lack of formal education.

As Chairman of the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee, I proudly introduced the Validate Prior Learning to Accelerate Employment Act. This legislation will ensure local workforce development and job placement partners are equipped with the necessary resources to measure job seekers' abilities.

Recognizing "National March into Literacy Month"

I also introduced legislation recognizing March 2025 as "National March into Literacy Month." Studies show that children who are not reading proficiently by the third grade are four times less likely to graduate from high school on time. This highlights the necessity of intervening early in a child's life and instilling a love and passion for reading. As a grandfather and a member of the House Education and Workforce Committee, I have long prioritized childhood literacy efforts in Congress.

I was honored to introduce this resolution and reaffirm my commitment to ensuring the American Dream is accessible for all children.

Each week, I will highlight an executive action, announcement, rulemaking, bill signing, or any other activity from the Trump Administration to keep you well-informed on what's happening in Washington.

President Trump recently established the National Energy Dominance Council — a cornerstone in the Trump Administration’s pursuit of unleashing American energy. Led by Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, the Council will play a key role in our work to lower energy prices, meet the rising demand for affordable energy, strengthen economic security, and ensure the American energy industry is best positioned as a global leader over the next century.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: ENERGY SECURITY is NATIONAL SECURITY.

2025 Congressional Art Competition

I recently announced that my office is now accepting submissions for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition!

Every year, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor a nationwide high school art competition. This contest is open to all high school students (9th – 12th grade) in Georgia’s 12th District. The winning piece will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, and its student artist will receive an invitation to travel to Washington, D.C. to attend the national winners’ reception.

In my first hearing on the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, we examined the Biden Administration's energy and environment spending. With billions of dollars being given out rapidly, it is critical that we see where American taxpayer dollars are going and that they are properly vetted.

In our first workforce hearing of the 119th Congress, the Committee contrasted the Biden Administration’s heavy-handed mandates with President Trump’s promises to enact pro-growth policies. I asked our witnesses about the importance of employer-sponsored health coverage and the previous Administration's harmful joint employer rule.
