Rep. Rick W. Allen Supports Critical Funding for Georgia-12

U.S. Congressman Rick W. Allen issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5895 last week, a critical spending package for Fiscal Year 2019 that appropriates funds for Energy and Water Development, the Legislative Branch, and Military Construction/Veterans Affairs.

“Last week’s passage of the first three spending bills for Fiscal Year 2019 was a huge win for the people of Georgia’s 12th Congressional District - and a step in the right direction to getting our appropriations process back to regular order. This legislation funds a Cyber Instructional Facility at Fort Gordon, supports the critical missions of Savannah River Site, and ensures that our veterans receive the best possible care after their service. I was happy to do my part at the federal level to support the many priorities of Georgia-12 and the surrounding areas.”

H.R. 5895 passed by a vote of 235-179 in the House of Representatives and does the following:

  • Appropriates $99 million for a Cyber Instructional Facility at Fort Gordon, as authorized in the FY19 House-passed NDAA
  • Funds critical missions at Savannah River Site
  • Provides $85.3 billion for VA programs including VA medical care, processing disability claims, VA construction, and the new VA electronic health record system
  • Provides significant funding for the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project
